About this project
Spanish Idioms Quiz is a personal project created to help non-native speakers understand how Spanish idioms are really used in Spain. At the moment, the app is specifically aimed at English speakers learning Spanish.
I'm Jaime Canales, a Spanish product designer and developer. I built this app after noticing how often learners understand the words in Spanish, but miss the real meaning, tone, or cultural context behind everyday expressions. Literal translation is rarely enough.
The app is primarily designed as a quiz, where learning happens through guessing, repetition, and explanation, with the goal of helping users internalize idioms instead of memorizing lists. It also includes a small idiom explorer that allows users to browse expressions more freely when needed.
All the idioms are collected by me, one by one, usually as they come to mind in real life. I then use AI as a support tool to refine meanings and examples before uploading everything into the app. The project currently includes … idioms and expressions, and new ones are added regularly.
This is an independent project, designed, developed, and maintained by one person. It's intentionally small, practical, and evolves through real use and feedback. If you find it useful and want to support its development, you can do so voluntarily. No features are locked behind payments.
